Note: Tupperbox has a configurable prefix. In command examples below, replace tul! with your server's Tupperbox prefix where necessary.

Tuppers not working

You can usually fix this with Tupperbox's built-in diagnostics.

  • First, ping Tupperbox in the channel you're trying to use tuppers.
    • If Tupperbox responds, it will list any potential configuration problems it found. You can run the tul!diagnose command to get more details on the configuration issues.
    • If Tupperbox doesn't respond, this means Tupperbox doesn't have access to that channel. This is typically due to Discord Permissions - you will need to either give Tupperbox a role with access to that channel or edit the channel permissions to remove any obstacles to Tupperbox using the channel. Try reading this Discord article for more details.

Tupperbox responds to commands with a blank/empty message

This means you have the "Embeds and Link Previews" setting turned off in Discord.
This setting is required to see embeds, which are how Tupperbox typically communicates! You can typically find this setting in the User Settings, under "App Settings > Text & Images".

Tupper avatar is broken or reset to the default Discord avatar

This is probably a temporary Discord issue!

There are two main sources of avatars being broken.

  1. Discord's image caching server was restarted or is backlogged, causing webhook avatars to fail to display.
  • This is the most likely case if your avatar was working before, but suddenly stopped working.
  • There's not much we or you can do about this except wait it out.
  1. Your avatar's source image was deleted before Tupperbox could cache it.
  • This is most likely if your avatar never worked or if you haven't used the tupper in a very long time.
  • The only way to fix this is to set a new avatar, since the original one no longer exists.

Tupperbox is lagging out or offline/not responding to commands

The Internet is a scary place and downtime is inevitable!

However, first double check that Tupperbox has access to the channel you're in, especially if you've only just added Tupperbox to your server.

  • Tupperbox is a Discord user like any other - you need to give it a role with permission to access the channel you want to use it in.
  • This is typically due to Discord Permissions - you will need to either give Tupperbox a role with access to that channel or edit the channel permissions to remove any obstacles to Tupperbox using the channel. Try reading this Discord article for more details.

If that doesn't help, check the Support Server to see if there's any recent mentions of downtime or scheduled updates. If there are none, also check https://discordstatus.com/ to see if Discord is having issues.
If all else fails, feel free to reach out for help in the Support Server so we can look at the issue!

Tupperbox not recognizing a tupper's name in commands

This is probably an issue with Tupperbox's chat command parsing.
Bots can be kinda finicky sometimes, especially if your tupper name has spaces, fancy fonts, or emojis.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Check the spelling of your tupper's name by using tul!list to find the tupper. Try copy-pasting the name from your list!
  2. Use "quotation marks" around your tupper's name. This is required if your tupper's name has more than one word in it!
  3. Use the Dashboard to edit your tupper. This bypasses any finicky name matching!

To avoid issues like these, we recommend keeping the name simple and setting a fancy Display Name using the tul!nick command. That way, you only have to type the simple name for commands!

Tupper message getting duplicated / original message not getting deleted

This is most likely a Discord bug.

Try deleting your message manually.

  • If it doesn't delete, you've found a Discord bug! Sometimes Tupperbox is a little too fast at proxying your message and Discord gets confused. In this case, it's likely that other members can't see the duplicate message, and it will likely go away when you restart Discord.
  • If it does delete, then Tupperbox failed to delete it for some reason. Check to make sure that it has "Manage Messages" permission in that channel. If it does, reach out in the Support Server for additional troubleshooting.

Can't add Tupperbox to a server

You need the Manage Server permission to add bots.
If you're using an invite link or bot adding site like top.gg, you may also be logged in to the wrong Discord account in your browser.

We can't control the servers that show up on the invite page, so try contacting Discord if you still can't get Tupperbox in your server (although you're welcome to ask for help troubleshooting in the Support Server!)

Tupperbox says it's missing a permission it should have

It's probably a channel override.
You will likely need to edit the channel and take a look at the permissions. This is often caused by the Default Permission (@everyone) having a red tick and none of Tupperbox's roles having a corresponding green tick to override the red one. Try reading this Discord article for more details.

Nitro/global emoji not working with tuppers

Add Tupperbox to the emoji server.
Using nitro emoji with tuppers requires that Tupperbox itself is in the server the emoji comes from. This is a restriction placed by Discord and can't be circumvented.
If Tupperbox is in the server and it still won't work, make sure Tupperbox also has the "Use External Emoji" permission in your server.
